Reader’s Question:

I need help in cleaning my automotive glass. Can you share some advice?

Hi Dorothy! It is important that you keep you automotive glass clean all the time because it does not only make your car look good but it will also help you to drive better. As a driver myself, I always clean my automotive glass before using it to make sure that I’ll be driving safely. To help you with your question, here are some tips that I will be sharing with you.

When choosing the materials for cleaning your automotive glass, it is best that you stay water from ammonia based cleaners. Why? For one, ammonia could release harmful fumes that should never be inhaled especially in an area that is enclosed just like your car. Second, ammonia dries out leather, rubber, vinyl, and plastic. Third, if your car windows are tinted, you should never use ammonia based cleaners. Hence, when looking for cleaner, make sure it says “safe to use for tinted windows” or “ammonia-free.”

In addition, I would not recommend you to use water when cleaning your glass. Although this is a safe method, water is still not enough to remove protein-based spots such as bug remains.

Lastly, when cleaning your vehicle, avoid recontaminating your glass. To do this, make sure to finish cleaning the whole vehicle before you do your automotive glass.

Could anything be easier than comparing multiple online price from automotive glass installers in your area….without having to call or fill out a contact me form?

I found glass.net and was super impressed with them that I had to start this website and tell others about their great service.

Just enter in your make and model in the box above and hit the submit button and you will be shown a list of automotive glass installers in your area that are in their service.

There are no obligations and the price quotes are free of course. You can also read reviews and company information for each installer, so you know more about them and what you should expect.

I would recomemnd you ask for an insurance company discounts, you just might get it.  I asked for one and said I was told to contact their company via my auto insurance agent….he gave me 10% off the price of the glass just for asking for it.

They offer free mobile installation unless you live in the middle of no-where. :)

Also ask if the replacement glass has the same safety rating as the original glass they are replacing.  I also wanted to support the US makers, so ask if the glass is from China or US.

I found this video helpful and wanted to post it for you as well, hope this helps!
