Hi Dorothy! It is important that you keep you automotive glass clean all the time because it does not only make your car look good but it will also help you to drive better. As a driver myself, I always clean my automotive glass before using it to make sure that I’ll be driving safely. To help you with your question, here are some tips that I will be sharing with you.
When choosing the materials for cleaning your automotive glass, it is best that you stay water from ammonia based cleaners. Why? For one, ammonia could release harmful fumes that should never be inhaled especially in an area that is enclosed just like your car. Second, ammonia dries out leather, rubber, vinyl, and plastic. Third, if your car windows are tinted, you should never use ammonia based cleaners. Hence, when looking for cleaner, make sure it says “safe to use for tinted windows” or “ammonia-free.”
In addition, I would not recommend you to use water when cleaning your glass. Although this is a safe method, water is still not enough to remove protein-based spots such as bug remains.
Lastly, when cleaning your vehicle, avoid recontaminating your glass. To do this, make sure to finish cleaning the whole vehicle before you do your automotive glass.
